Accounting Support Specialist (Remote)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Support Specialist with a strong understanding of US GAAP and prior experience working with international clients.

This is a customer-facing support role, where the individual will primarily assist users of the accounting software by providing support over calls and emails. The role involves handling queries related to Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes, ensuring timely resolution, and delivering a seamless customer experience.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable in a high-interaction environment, managing client queries, troubleshooting issues, and guiding customers on system usage and accounting workflows.


Note: This role requires working in night shifts to support international clients.

 

Responsibilities:

 Customer Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for customers via calls and emails for accounting-related queries.
  • Provide timely and effective resolution to issues related to AR/AP processes within the software.
  • Guide customers on system usage, workflows, and best practices.
  • Track, manage, and follow up on open queries to ensure closure within defined SLAs.
  • Maintain clear documentation of customer interactions and resolutions.

 

Accounts Receivable (AR) Support

  • Assist customers with queries related to receivables, collections, and invoice tracking.
  • Support account reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Guide customers on payment application, including multi-currency transactions.
  • Help analyze AR aging reports and flag overdue balances.

 

Accounts Payable (AP) Support

  • Assist customers with invoice processing, approvals, and payment workflows.
  • Support queries related to vendor payments (wire, ACH, checks).
  • Help resolve vendor reconciliation issues and discrepancies.
  • Guide users on maintaining vendor data and onboarding processes.

 

Compliance & Reporting 

  • Assist customers with queries related to month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Provide support during audit-related data preparation.
  • Help generate and interpret AR/AP reports and schedules.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in AR/AP, accounting, or customer support roles in accounting/software environments.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP principles.
  • Experience working with international clients/customers.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle client interactions over calls and emails.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple queries and work in a fast-paced support environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Excel.
